Betting law in New Zealand

TAB NZ has been the only lawful provider of racing and sports betting to people in New Zealand from 28 June 2025, under section 74AAA of the Racing Industry Act 2020, with TAB and Betcha as the online brands. The Department of Internal Affairs supervises compliance. There is no licence to apply for, so no other bookmaker holds a New Zealand one. Betting with TAB NZ is limited to those aged 18 or over.
